For nightlife, the area north of Charing Cross, Soho, offers all manner of late bars and clubs. With a well founded reputation for fun, Soho boasts some of London's most attractive restaurants and funkiest nightspots. Nearby the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus also attracts the crowds. Bars and restaurants line the streets all within walking distance of London's world famous Theatreland. Trafalgar Square meanwhile has undergone a transformation of late and with vastly improved amenities it is now one of central London's most attractive picnic locations. Dominated by the imposing Nelson's Column, Trafalgar Square is popular with tourists and is a short walk from both the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery.
